Gun Sense Vermont's ongoing effort to help keep guns out of the wrong hands took a significant step forward today when the Vermont State Senate voted 20-8 to approve a bill to prohibit violent felons from possessing firearms and requiring the timely submission of key court records to the National Instant Background Check System (NICS). This strong showing of support confirms that the tide is changing in Vermont when it comes to including guns in our conversations about public health and safety. 

 

The bill, which is slated for a third reading on March 26, will then move to the House for consideration. You can read about the March 25 vote here:
