Conor Casey

Executive Director

Conor Casey is the Executive Director of the GunSense Vermont, a non-profit committed to reducing gun violence in the state. He has over a decade of experience as a union organizer, campaign manager, and advocate.

Growing up between Ireland and the United States, Conor developed a deep appreciation for workers’ rights and political activism at an early age. He received his B.A. in Media Arts at Emerson College in Boston and completed his M.A. in Communications at Dublin City University.

After returning to the States, Conor worked in the press office of Senator Edward Kennedy for a year prior to accepting a position with the Vermont State Employees' Association (VSEA). As Political Director, Conor saw VSEA through some of its most difficult years during the recession and managed to pass some of the strongest whistleblower protection and anti-privatization laws in the country. He has worked on countless union campaigns on every level and most recently served as Political Coordinator for the Connecticut Education Association and membership organizer for the Vermont NEA.

In 2013, Conor was honored by the Irish Echo as one of the top 100 Irish in the labor movement to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Dublin Lockouts. He currently serves on the Irish American Legislative Caucus as the Vermont state chair.

Conor lives in Montpelier, where he is serves as a state representative for the Washington-4 District. In his spare time, he enjoys disc golf and writing plays.
